Keyshawn Johnson believes he’ll be able to start working out in eight weeks.
He’ll undergo surgery on his injured knee and broken ankle this week. His value would increase if the Cowboys added a new QB or better primary receiver.

Keyshawn’s Johnson’s contract with the Cowboys was much less than widely reported, and will need re-structuring or a release after two seasons.
Johnson will make $8 million during the first two years, then an extra $6 million over the next two years. A $1 million roster bonus in 2006 will likely force a release or re-structuring of the deal.

The Bucs say that several teams are interested in trading for Keyshawn Johnson, and that they have no immediate plans to release him.
The team should be able a mid round pick for Johnson. Teams reportedly interested include the Lions and Jaguars.

Keyshawn Johnson is likely to play next season with the Cowboys even if Tampa Bay cannot get Joey Galloway to restructure his contract.
The Cowboys would likely send a draft pick (3rd round?) if the Bucs can’t come to an agreement with Galloway in the next two days. Galloway would then likely be released by Dallas.

Coach Parcells says WR Keyshawn Johnson is still struggling to shake off rust.
“He needs to go down to Ace Hardware and get a little Rustoleum,” Parcells said. It’s motivation for a player that apparently needs it.

The Oakland Tribune’s Jerry McDonald doesn’t believe the Raiders are likely to pursue free agent Keyshawn Johnson.
The Raiders, already loaded with young wideouts that need to play, are trying to build a team that will be competitive for a long time, not necessarily win now. Witness the selection of JaMarcus Russell over Calvin Johnson.

The Packers have had discussions with free agent Keyshawn Johnson.
No deal involving Johnson seems to be imminent despite a report early last week that he was close to signing with either the Raiders or Titans. The Packers may not be willing to meet Keyshawn’s asking price if they believe third-round pick James Jones can make an instant impact.

SI.com’s Michael Silver reports the Raiders and Titans have emerged as the lead contenders to land free agent Keyshawn Johnson.
Johnson is expected to consider a career in broadcasting if he doesn’t land in a training camp, but will reportedly play if the money is right. Silver reports Keyshawn hopes to sign a contract within the next week. Green Bay and Seattle are also involved to a degree, but may be offering less money as teams that are in better position to compete this year.

GM Tim Ruskell denies Seattle is interested in Keyshawn Johnson.
A report on SI.com two days ago alluded to Seattle having interest. At this point, Green Bay, Tennessee, and Oakland appear to be the frontrunners.

Keyshawn Johnson told Yahoo! Sports that he is seriously considering a comeback.
“The challenge of helping to turn a team around, to help get it to the next level, that gets my competitive fires burning. I have the itch, and right now I’m trying to decide how strong that itch is,” Johnson said. Bill Parcells has reportedly already offered Johnson a spot on the Dolphins, and the Titans and Raiders have also expressed interest in the past.
