Free agent G/C Kevin Boothe will visit the Raiders Monday.
The swap meet between the Giants and Raiders continues. GM Jerry Reese may want Boothe back as a short-term bridge at center, but Reggie McKenzie can blow him out of the water financially. Of course, getting into a bidding war here would be silly as Boothe was a liability in both the pass and run games while playing center for the final six games of last year.

    Raiders released OG Kevin Boothe.
He was owed a $1.175 million base salary. Boothe appeared in nine games last season, starting none. Boothe may be running out of gas going on age 32.

Pat McQuistan is penciled in as the Raiders’ starting left guard.
A third-round pick in 2006, McQuistan lost the job for a stint during his first season. Kevin Boothe and Cooper Carlisle are in the mix at right guard.

Raiders RG Kevin Boothe left in the third quarter of Sunday night’s game after injuring his nose.
He broke his nose last week and needed surgery to correct it, so the problem may be serious. Rookie Paul McQuistan has replaced Boote at right guard, and Chad Slaughter continues to play for injured RT Langston Walker.

The Raiders are expected to use cut blocking this season.
Cut blocking is a strategy used by offensive linemen in zone blocking, a concept new line coach Tom Cable learned under Alex Gibbs in Atlanta. Center Jeremy Newberry and fullback Justin Griffith have history in the system. It also projects to benefit Robert Gallery and Kevin Boothe.
