The son of former Pro Bowler Fred Taylor, Kelvin was a sixth-round pick out of Florida. He has limited NFL upside, but the 49ers will likely try to stash him on the practice squad.

Taylor is the son of former Jaguars and Patriots running back Fred Taylor. The Seahawks needed some depth at running back with Troymaine Pope nursing an ankle injury. He’ll share backup reps with Alex Collins behind workhorse Thomas Rawls.

A sixth-round pick of the 49ers in April, Taylor did not make it through final cuts. The former Gator does not have much NFL upside, but the Seahawks are hurting at running back. He could be called up in the near future.

Taylor was a late addition to Seattle’s practice squad last year and spent time on their active roster. He’s a low upside flyer despite NFL bloodlines. Taylor is depth behind Spencer Ware, Kareem Hunt, Charcandrick West and C.J. Spiller.

A replacement-level prospect with limited athleticism, Taylor will likely max out as a seldom-used situational back in the pros. He is not a serious threat to Carlos Hyde’s position atop the depth chart.

The son of Fred Taylor, Kelvin has struggled to stick on an NFL roster since being drafted in the sixth round last year. That is unlikely to change in Atlanta.

Taylor (5'10/207) shared time with Matt Jones and others before taking over as the Gators’ lead back as a third-year junior in 2015, rushing for 1,035 yards and 13 touchdowns on 259 carries (4.00 YPC). Taylor averaged an underwhelming 4.34 yards per carry in his college career and only caught 32 passes in three seasons. Taylor’s sub-par athleticism showed up at the Combine, running 4.60 with a 9-foot-5 broad jump. With small hands (8 1/4") and an indecisive running mentality, Taylor has the ceiling of a lightly used situational back.

A 2016 sixth-rounder, Taylor has never appeared in a regular season game. He took the rock 18 times for 58 yards (3.22 YPC) last preseason.
