Pitching coach Jim Colborn was not concerned about Kazuhisa Ishii’s effort in Thursday’s in loss, so the Dodgers didn’t alter his program.
Ishii will start today’s game against Arizona, focusing on consistency and concentration in his delivery.
  • INT Relief Pitcher
Kaz Ishii will start Sunday’s game... if the Dodgers win today or tomorrow.
If the Giants win the first two games, Odalis Perez will start Sunday.
  • INT Relief Pitcher
Since Kaz Ishii has a 3.70 ERA with three quality starts over his last four outings, he is no longer working on a start-to-start basis, manager Jim Tracy said.
Ishii is 3-0 over that stretch. “Right now, you would like to see Kazuhisa continue to pitch the way he has been,” Tracy said. “Then there doesn’t have to be any talk or thought about an alternative plan.”
  • INT Relief Pitcher
The back problem that caused LHP Kazuhisha Ishi to leave Sunday’s start after six innings is no longer an issue.
He will make his next scheduled start Saturday against the Cardinals.
  • INT Relief Pitcher
The Dodgers have decided to leave Kaz Ishii in the rotation for his Tuesday start in Montreal.
It probably has less to do with a newfound confidence in Ishii, and more to do with the fact Edwin Jackson isn’t ready to return, and Elmer Dessens and Duaner Sanchez were used heavily in relief Sunday. Still, Ishii isn’t a bad fantasy option against the Expos this week.
  • INT Relief Pitcher
Kazuhisa Ishii reverted to his erratic form of last season by allowing six walks in Friday’s game.
Ishii only managed to throw 49 of his 96 pitches over five innings for strikes, but somehow struck out seven with three hits and one earned run allowed. Ishii has a nice 3.21 ERA, but is on pace to walk 118 this year, so it’s doubtful his ERA will stay that low. He has some value in strikeout leagues, but pitching for the offensively-challenged Dodgers, his win totals aren’t gonna be exciting.
  • INT Relief Pitcher
Kazuhisa Ishii (sprained left knee ligament) is scheduled to throw in the bullpen Sunday and again on Tuesday.
If Ishii emerges with no problems, he will rejoin the rotation next Thursday.
  • INT Relief Pitcher
Kazuhisa Ishii (strained left knee) threw 38 pitches in a bullpen session and will be re-evaluated today, a team spokesman said.
Ishii is expected to be activated from the disabled list to start Thursday.
  • INT Relief Pitcher
Kazuhisa Ishii has overhauled his delivery to create better balance and rhythm.
Ishii said he has changed his windup so his elbow and knee no longer touch and altered his follow-through so his lead leg no longer is as stiff. If the changes seem to lead to better control this spring, Ishii would be someone to move up on draft lists.
  • INT Relief Pitcher
If tomorrow’s MRI reveals no problems, Kazuhisa Ishii is likely to miss just two starts and return on August 14.
Ishii was placed on the DL yesterday with a sprained MCL.
