Texans signed KR Trindon Holliday, WR Juaquin Iglesias, DL Sunny Harris, LB Derrell Smith, C Cody Wallace, and DB Torri Williams to reserve/futures contracts.
Holliday doesn’t play receiver, so he’s a longshot for the 2012 roster even after Jacoby Jones’ miscues led in large part to the Texans’ season-ending loss. Iglesias was a final cut in Minnesota last September.
  • FA Wide Receiver #19
Texans waived or released WRs Juaquin Iglesias and Jeff Maehl, TEs Logan Brock and Philip Supernaw, DEs Keith Browner and Mitch King, LBs D.J. Bryant, Delano Johnson, Shawn Loiseau and Rennie Moore, DTs Hebron Fangupo and David Hunter, OT Nathan Menkin, Ss Troy Nolan and Eddie Pleasant, C Cody Wallace and G Cody White.
A standout at the University of Oklahoma, Iglesias is looking less and less likely to notch his first career catch since being a third-round pick of the Bears in 2009. Undrafted out of Oregon last season, Maehl briefly cracked the Texans’ 53-man roster.
  • FA Running Back #23
Special teams coordinator Joe Marciano nominated undrafted rookie Davin Meggett as a “sleeper” for kick return duties this season.
Meggett isn’t quite the returner that his Pro Bowl father and former Giants star, Dave, was in the 1980s. Rookie Keshawn Martin appears to be the early favorite to take over for Jacoby Jones, though Trindon Holliday and Juaquin Iglesias are also in the mix.
  • FA Wide Receiver #19
In addition to Donnie Avery and Buster Davis, the Titans will also work out free agent WR Juaquin Iglesias.
The Bears’ 2009 third-rounder was a final cut by the Vikings in early September. He’s battling at least three veteran receivers to be signed as the Titans’ fifth wideout.
  • FA Wide Receiver #19
According to Bears WRs coach Darryl Drake, 2009 third-rounder Juaquin Iglesias made major strides in the second half of last season.
After being left in the dust by Johnny Knox last year, Iglesias is currently sixth on the depth chart at receiver. He’ll have to come on strong in training camp to earn even a small role in Mike Martz’s offense.
  • FA Wide Receiver #19
Bears signed third-round WR Juaquin Iglesias to a four-year contract.
Iglesias dominated as Sam Bradford’s go-to guy last year, racking up 1,150 yards and 10 TDs on 74 catches as a senior. Early indications are that he will battle Rashied Davis for slot duties. The Bears don’t typically throw rookie wideouts into the fire, so Davis is probably the favorite at the position.
  • FA Wide Receiver #19
Bears selected Oklahoma WR Juaquin Iglesias with the No. 99 overall pick in the NFL Draft.
An outstanding pick. Iglesias, Heisman winner Sam Bradford’s go-to guy in 2008 with 1,150 yards, 10 scores, and 74 catches, could be an immediate upgrade over Rashied Davis in the slot. Iglesias ran pro routes at OU and is quicker than fast. He profiles similar to Derrick Mason with the right development. Iglesias was our favorite wideout left after day one.
  • FA Wide Receiver #10
Bears GM Jerry Angelo downplayed the possibility Monday of adding a veteran free agent wide receiver.
Said Angelo: “I don’t feel near the need to go out and sign a veteran that I did before [Sunday].” Angelo is counting on Earl Bennett’s emergence as a starter opposite Devin Hester, and third-rounder Juaquin Iglesias should get a chance to contribute immediately.
  • FA Wide Receiver #13
Fifth-round Bears WR Johnny Knox reportedly could have a “significantly better” rookie season than third-round pick WR Juaquin Iglesias.
Knox has world class speed, and has apparently impressed more than Iglesias over the summer. They are likely battling for slot receiver snaps. Deep dynasty leaguers should keep Knox on the radar.
  • FA Wide Receiver #19
Observers were reportedly not wowed by Bears third-round draft pick Juaquin Iglesias throughout the offseason program.
Iglesias was initially considered a favorite for slot duties but might end up behind incumbent Rashied Davis and later-drafted rookie Johnny Knox.
