Panthers signed RB Josh Vaughan off their practice squad.
Vaughan will fill Mike Goodson’s role as insurance at running back and a special teamer. He appeared in three games for the Panthers in 2010, rushing three times for seven yards and vulturing a touchdown.

Falcons declared RB Josh Vaughan, S Kemal Ishmael, S Zeke Motta, G Harland Gunn, T Ryan Schraeder, DT Travian Robertson, and DE Stansly Maponga inactive for Sunday’s Week 2 game against the Rams.
Maponga, Schraeder, Ishmael, and Motta are all rookies. Roddy White (ankle) and Julio Jones (knee) are both active.

Panthers RBs DeAngelo Williams (foot), Jonathan Stewart (concussion), and Tyrell Sutton (ankle) have been ruled out for Week 10.
Williams never even practiced this week after reportedly aiming for a return against the Bucs. Mike Goodson has taken all of the first-team reps in practice this week and will start against one of the softest run defenses in the league. Josh Vaughan and Andre Brown will back up Goodson and perhaps play in short-yardage situations.

    Panthers waived RB Josh Vaughan.
Vaughan was forced into duty a few weeks ago and even scored a touchdown, but he’s been limited to special teams duty of late and with Jonathan Stewart back and looking healthy, Vaughan isn’t needed. He could be re-signed to the practice squad.

    Panthers re-signed RB Josh Vaughan.
Vaughan, undrafted out of Richmond in 2009, saw plenty of action with the Panthers early in training camp. Since he already knows the offense, Vaughan is a better choice than Andre Brown to back up Mike Goodson if DeAngelo Williams (foot), Jonathan Stewart (concussion), and Tyrell Sutton (ankle) all miss Week 10.
  • FA Running Back #30
Panthers signed RB Josh Vaughan, LB Sean Ware, OL Jacob Bender, DT Tommie Duhart, WR Trent Guy, and DT Louis Ellis to reserve/future contracts.
Fantasy leaguers might recall Vaughan’s name because he vultured a short-yardage touchdown from Mike Goodson in Week 10. He’s not much of a long-term prospect. Ware and Guy are mere special teams candidates for 2011.
