Failing to impress in Bengals camp this summer, Wade was out of the league for the first two months of the season. He’ll add veteran depth in Miami with Vontae Davis once again battling a hamstring injury.

Wade failed to make a special teams tackle in two games after being signed on November 1. His release clears a roster spot for fill-in kicker Shayne Graham.

The Lions are high on physical third-round press corner Amari Spievey, but he’s just getting back to speed after suffering from hip flexors two weeks ago. Considering Wade’s lackluster play with the Rams, the coaches have to be hoping Spievey wins the job outright in training camp.

Wade is raw but, as Corey Chavous would say, “his best days are ahead of him.” The Tennessee product will likely be St. Louis’ dime corner as a rookie.

Butler had starting experience and was a playmaker, so it’s a big vote of confidence for the rookie. Wade and Ronald Bartell, who’s listed as a safety on the Rams’ team site, will likely battle for the nickel in training camp.

St. Louis is now down both its starting corners (Fakhir Brown is suspended the first four games). An average to below average pass defense now looks awful on paper. Ronald Bartell and burnable vet Lenny Walls will likely play outside in Week 2 vs. the 49ers, with rookie Jonathan Wade at nickel back.

This is going to hurt the Rams. They’ll likely have to go with inexperienced Ronald Bartell at the corner spot opposite Tye Hill to open the season, and insert raw rookie Jonathan Wade at the nickel. The Rams’ secondary should present a favorable matchup in fantasy leagues to start the season.

It’s unclear if this is because the staff has faith in Hill, or because he’s the veteran over youngsters Jonathan Wade and Bradley Fletcher. Wade is currently the top nickel back. Fletcher might have the best shot to unseat Hill.

It’s looking like it’s possible the starting right corner job is still up for grabs. Wade is still considered raw but Hill isn’t exactly blowing anyone’s socks off. Expect the spot to get picked on during the season.

Fletcher, the Rams’ third-round pick this season, made his third start Sunday. He’s scheduled for more tests Monday. Jonathan Wade replaced Fletcher.
