Aro

Aro last appeared in the big leagues back in 2016 with the Mariners. The 31-year-old righty hasn’t pitched in the minors since the 2019 season. He spent the 2021 season with a pair of teams in the Mexican League. He’ll get a shot at Triple-A Salt Lake with the Angels this season.

Aro, 28, spent last year with the Padres after signing as a minor league free agent in November. He appeared in 38 games for Triple-A El Paso with a 3.68 ERA and a 36/19 K/BB ratio in 44 innings.

Aro has posted a 2.45 ERA and 24/9 K/BB ratio over 33 frames for Tacoma this season. He’ll work in middle relief.

Aro made only one appearance in his short stay with the M’s. He’ll get another shot later this summer.

The move clears a 40-man roster spot for catcher Tuffy Gosewisch, who was claimed off waivers by the Mariners on Thursday. Aro, 26, owns a 6.55 ERA and 1.91 WHIP in 11 career innings at the major league level.

Aro was designated for assignment last week after the Mariners claimed catcher Tuffy Gosewisch off waivers. The 26-year-old will continue to provide bullpen depth in the minors.

Aro is at Triple-A Tacoma in the Mariners’ organization but had yet to pitch this season. He was removed from the 40-man roster over the winter.

Aro has posted an impressive 2.22 ERA, 0.918 WHIP, and 49/11 K/BB ratio in 44 2/3 innings this season between Double-A and Triple-A. The 24-year-old right-hander should do well in long relief for Boston.

The move clears a spot for Ryan Hanigan’s return from the disabled list. Aro allowed six runs in 4 2/3 innings during his first stint in the majors.

Aro was with the club for just two days to provide bullpen depth. He’ll continue to bide his time at Triple-A until a full-time opening arises in the Red Sox bullpen.
