Johni Broome suffered a lateral meniscus tear in his right knee.
This happened while Broome was with the Delaware Blue Coats, the 76ers’ G League affiliate. The rookie hasn’t seen the floor in the NBA much this season, and it will be a while before he is back on the floor in any capacity. The team hasn’t provided a timeline for Broome’s return but we’d be surprised if he played again this season.
  • PHI Center #1
Andre Drummond (knee) is questionable to play against the Wizards on Tuesday.
With Joel Embiid (knee) sidelined, Drummond will start if he is able to suit up and return to being an excellent streaming option. If not, the center minutes will fall to Adem Bona and Johni Broome, with Bona likely to start and be the preferred streaming option.
  • PHI Center-Forward #21
Joel Embiid (knee) has been ruled out against the Wizards on Tuesday.
Embiid returned from a nine-game absence on Sunday and was able to log 30 minutes, though he clearly wasn’t moving as well as we’re accustomed to seeing. He’ll sit out against Washington, which shouldn’t be alarming. The extra rest won’t hurt. The 76ers have three more games after that this week, including a back-to-back, so Embiid should still play two games. However, if he doesn’t, that’s when it will be time to start panicking. Andre Drummond (knee) is questionable, and he’ll start if he plays. If not, the center minutes will fall to Adem Bona and Johni Broome.
  • PHI Center-Forward #21
Joel Embiid (knee) has been ruled out against the Hawks on Sunday.
This will be a ninth straight absence for Embiid, though he is getting closer to a return. Andre Drummond has been starting in place of Embiid, but he is questionable with a knee injury of his own. Adem Bona and Johni Broome should fill out the center minutes if Drummond is out.
  • PHI Center #1
Andre Drummond (knee) will not return to Friday’s game against the Nets.
Drummond was taken off in a wheelchair after the injury, and while the extent of the injury is unclear, he will at least be sidelined for the rest of this one. Johni Broome and Adem Bona should fill the center minutes for the remainder of this game.
  • PHI Forward #22
Johni Broome (ankle) is not on the injury report against the Pistons on Friday.
Broome will be available after a two-game absence and could end up being part of the rotation with Joel Embiid (knee) out. However, he won’t play enough to be worth rostering in fantasy basketball.
  • PHI Forward #22
Johni Broome (ankle) is out for Tuesday’s game against the Celtics.
Broome remains out for another game with a sprained right ankle. His absence does not impact fantasy basketball, as the rookie has not been in the 76ers’ rotation. However, the injury keeps Broome from getting on-court practice reps, either with the 76ers or the team’s G League affiliate.
  • PHI Forward #22
Johni Broome (ankle) has been ruled out against the Raptors on Saturday.
As expected, Broome will be unavailable off the bench, though he hasn’t been part of the rotation this season for the 76ers, so his absence won’t change things for them.
  • PHI Forward #22
Johni Broome (ankle) is doubtful to play against the Raptors on Saturday.
Broome is a late addition to the injury report, but his status won’t impact the 76ers’ rotation. He’s played a grand total of six minutes this season.
  • PHI Power Forward
Johni Broome recorded a double-double on Tuesday with 14 points (5-of-11 FGs), 10 rebounds, one assist, one steal and two three-pointers against the Wizards.
Broome has largely struggled in Las Vegas, but he played well on Tuesday and recorded his first double-double of the summer. The second-round pick will compete for reserve minutes behind Joel Embiid next season and could take on a large role if Embiid isn’t healthy. Performances like this are encouraging.
