Former Ravens CB Jimmy Smith has announced his retirement after 11 years in the league.
Smith was drafted in the first round of the 2011 draft by the Ravens and spent his entire career with Baltimore. He played in 128 career games, totaling 374 tackles, 14 interceptions, three sacks, and two defensive touchdowns. Smith was a part of the Ravens’ Super Bowl-winning 2012 team, playing in all four playoff games. He played in a total of 10 playoff games, totaling 19 tackles and one incerception in the playoffs. Smith operated as a reserve for his final years with the Ravens and the 34-year-old will now officially call it quits.

  • FA Defensive Back #22
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Ravens CB Jimmy Smith tested positive for COVID-19 and will miss the team’s Week 15 game against the Packers.
Smith will be placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list later today. The Ravens’ secondary has been ravaged by injuries this year. Marlon Humphrey landed on injured reserve earlier this month because of a pec injury and Baltimore opened the year by losing Marcus Peters to a torn ACL. Unsurprisingly, they are 31st in passing yards allowed. Expect Aaron Rodgers to torch their weakened secondary this week.

  • BAL Running Back #42
Ravens declared FB Pat Ricard (knee/back), WR M. Boykin (finger), TE Nick Boyle (knee), RT Pat Mekari (hand), and DB Jimmy Smith inactive for Week 14 against the Browns.
Ricard is a significant loss for Baltimore’s rushing attack. The Athletic’s Jeff Zrebiec said the Ravens could resort to heavier offensive sets with Ricard out. TE Josh Oliver could see a bump in playing time. Meanwhile, Baltimore heads into Week 14 with a depleted secondary, making the Browns pass catchers slightly more palatable for desperate fantasy managers.

  • FA Defensive Back #22
Ravens CB Jimmy Smith (ankle) is questionable for Week 13 against the Steelers.
Absent the last two games because of a neck injury, Smith looked on track to play following a full practice on Thursday, but he showed up as a DNP because of an ankle injury Friday. The late-week injury suggests he is on the wrong side of questionable.

  • FA Defensive Back #22
Ravens declared LT Ronnie Stanley (ankle), DL Derek Wolfe (back/hip), and S Ar’Darius Washington inactive for Week 3 against the Lions.
CB Jimmy Smith, after missing the season’s first couple weeks with an ankle issue, will suit up against Detroit. Smith’s return is a boon for a Baltimore secondary that’s proven more vulnerable than usual. Fantasy managers should be confident in deploying the Ravens defense against Jared Goff and the Lions.

  • FA Defensive Back #22
Ravens declared CB Jimmy Smith, DE Derek Wolfe, S Ar’Darius Washington, LB Daelin Hayes, and G Ben Cleveland inactive for Week 1 against the Raiders.
Smith was questionable. He’ll be missed with Marcus Peters already out with a torn ACL.

  • FA Defensive Back #22
Ravens CB Jimmy Smith (ankle) returned to practice Wednesday.
He suffered a low-ankle sprain August 6, and this is his first practice since the injury, putting him on track for Week 1 against the Raiders Monday night. Now 33, Smith is Baltimore’s fourth corner behind Marcus Peters, Marlon Humphrey, and nickel Tavon Young.

  • FA Defensive Back #22
Ravens CB Jimmy Smith (ankle) is expected to miss a “couple weeks.”
Smith still needs an MRI but the hope is he’s only dealing with a low ankle sprain. The Ravens plan to shut down him down for at least the next two weeks. It’s possible Smith, a 10-year veteran, sits out the preseason to avoid setbacks.

  • FA Defensive Back #22
Ravens re-signed Jimmy Smith to a one-year, $5 million contract extension.
Initially set to hit free agency, the one-year extension will keep Smith locked up with the Ravens through the 2021 season. He’s dealt with a number of injuries the past few years and turns 33 in July, but Smith remains Baltimore’s best reserve in the secondary when healthy. He’ll likely be asked to stay in that role next season.

  • FA Defensive Back #22
Ravens CB Jimmy Smith (ribs, shoulder) is out for Week 16 against the Giants.
Smith missed last week as well. The Ravens listed almost one dozen players, including CB Marcus Peters, as questionable. With the Giants struggling offensively, Baltimore should be able to handle business on defense in a must-win environment.
