Carter

Carter spent the 2022 season bouncing between the Browns’ practice squad and active roster. He ultimately appeared in seven games, one of which was credited as a start. Carter logged 16 combined tackles while playing a mix of special teams and defense. He will compete for a rotational role in Houston’s weak linebacker room while also picking up work on special teams this year.

Carter started all 17 games for Carolina last season, recording an unimpactful 88 tackles and little else across 78% of the snaps. He should get a chance to start in a weak Kansas City linebacker corps.

Carter is exploring his free agency option after playing in every game for the Panthers over the past four years. He was a mainstay in Carolina’s special teams unit, totaling 88 tackles in 2021.

Undersized at 6'0/228, Carter was projected to go undrafted. Carter’s straight-line speed is substandard (4.69) relative to his size, but he stood out on special teams in college. He will try to earn a job there as a rookie.
