Cowboys released TE Jeremy Sprinkle with an injury settlement.
Sprinkle appeared in all 17 games for Dallas last year but only caught three passes. He has primarily been used on special teams throughout his career. Sprinkle has logged at least 200 special teams snaps in each of the past four years. He was dealing with an Achilles injury before being released. It’s unclear how serious the injury is. If the issue is resolved, he could make his way onto a roster later in the year.

  • FA Tight End #87
Cowboys re-signed TE Jeremy Sprinkle to a one-year contract.
Sprinkle joined the Cowboys last year and moved between the practice squad and active roster multiple times. He ultimately appeared in all 17 games for Dallas, primarily contributing on special teams. With Blake Jarwin now off the roster, Sprinkle has a shot at being the direct backup to Dalton Schultz.

  • FA Tight End #87
Colts hosted free agent TE Jeremy Sprinkle.
Sprinkle, 27 in August, was a core special teamer for Washington the past two seasons, seeing his offensive snaps decline from 600 in 2019 to 218 last year given the presence of Logan Thomas. Indianapolis’ tight ends room currently consists of Jack Doyle, Mo Alie-Cox, Noah Togiai, and Jordan Thomas since Trey Burton remains a free agent.

  • FA Tight End #87
Jeremy Sprinkle caught his lone target for eight yards in Washington’s Wild Card loss to the Buccaneers.
Sprinkle appeared in every regular-season game but only had one reception. He’s a pure run-blocking option with zero fantasy ceiling. Logan Thomas is under contract through the 2021 season for Washington while Sprinkle heads into free agency.

  • FA Tight End #87
Jeremy Sprinkle caught 3-of-6 targets for 18 yards in the Redskins’ Week 17 loss to the Cowboys.
Sprinkle had a best-case scenario arise this season with both Jordan Reed and Vernon Davis landing on the injured reserve. Unfortunately, the third-year TE failed to do anything with the near full-time role, finishing with fewer than 25 receiving yards in all but one game and scoring just one touchdown. Sprinkle was never targeted more than four times in a game. PFF’s No. 73 overall TE among 79 qualified players, it’s unlikely that Sprinkle offers any sort of fantasy value anywhere in 2020 and beyond.
  • FA Tight End #87
Jeremy Sprinkle caught 2-of-3 targets for 16 yards and a touchdown in the Redskins’ Week 11 loss to the Jets.
Sprinkle can sprinkle in a random touchdown from time to time, but he’s not on the streaming radar even with Vernon Davis still sidelined. The Redskins are barely even keeping Terry McLaurin afloat in fantasy.
  • FA Tight End #87
Jeremy Sprinkle reeled in two of three targets for 17 yards Sunday in the Redskins’ Week 5 loss to New England.
Sprinkle drew the start in place of an injured Vernon Davis (who himself had been filling in for an injured Jordan Reed) and proceeded to do ... well, not much. Even as a desperate, bye-week streamer, going the Sprinkle route is probably a bit much. The 0-5 Redskins are slated to face the Dolphins—also winless—in Week 6. Something has to give.
  • FA Tight End #87
Jeremy Sprinkle was not targeted in Washington’s Week 17 loss to the Eagles.
A fifth-round pick in 2017, Sprinkle had a grand total of two career catches and zero 2018 catches heading into Week 15, but injuries to both Jordan Reed and Vernon Davis forced him into a bigger role. He responded with five catches for 41 yards and a touchdown the next two games before cratering along with the rest of the offense in the finale. Despite his late playing time, Sprinkle is not even an exciting hold in Dynasty formats.
  • FA Tight End #87
Jeremy Sprinkle vacuumed 2-of-3 targets for 22 yards in Washington’s Week 16 loss to the Titans.
Sprinkle wasn’t able to slingshot Vernon Davis’ (concussion, out) and Jordan Reed’s (toe, out) absences into anything spectacular. He’ll still be a viable usage-based streamer against the Eagles in Week 17 if Davis and Reed remain out.
  • FA Tight End #87
Redskins selected Arkansas TE Jeremy Sprinkle with the No. 154 overall pick in the 2017 NFL draft.
Sprinkle (6’5/252) shared time with Hunter Henry before emerging as a full-time player in 2016, posting a 33-380-4 (11.5 YPR) receiving line as an 11-game starter. PFF College charted Sprinkle with only five drops among 72 catchable targets over his final three seasons. Lost in the shuffle in this loaded tight end class, Sprinkle has long arms (34 ½"), huge (10 3/4"), soft hands, and respectable 4.69 speed, and was one of the top pass-blocking tight ends in college football. Sprinkle also offers special teams experience, which will be his ticket to an NFL roster spot initially. Long term, he could become a Ryan Griffin-type No. 2 tight end.
