The Thunder have claimed Jawun Evans off waivers.
He’ll bring some emergency depth to the point guard position in OKC, but he won’t have any fantasy value while the main guys are healthy.

The Suns will waive Jawun Evans, according to Michael Scotto of The Athletic.
The Rockets are expected make a claim on Evans to sign him, but it is likely to just fill out their roster. Evans only saw action in seven games with the Suns this NBA season.

Jawun Evans has been recalled from the G-League ahead of Sunday’s game against the Lakers.
Evans hasn’t played much for the Suns this season after signing a two-way contract in early December. De’Anthony Melton (ankle) is out for a couple weeks, which means Evans will be depth at the point guard spot. He’s not worth owning at the moment.
  • FA Point Guard #8
Jawun Evans came off the bench to play a career-high 26 minutes and finishing with four points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals on 2-of-7 shooting in Tuesday’s loss to the Spurs.
Devin Booker is out with a hamstring injury and Elie Okobo is in the G-League, leaving Evans as the current backup point guard behind De’Anthony Melton. Evans is on the radar in deeper leagues, but Melton’s the hot pickup in Phoenix right now.
  • FA Point Guard #8
The Suns signed Jawun Evans to a two-way deal.
The Suns will call him up tonight to make things even messier for them. He’s been very good in the G League with 18.5 points, 4.6 dimes, 4.1 boards and 1.5 steals in those 14 games. Considering how terrible the Suns are, Evans is on the radar as an add in super deep leagues. This is somewhat bad news for Elie Okobo and De’Anthony Melton.

The Clippers will waive G Jawun Evans.
Evans was serving as the fifth-string point guard on the roster, so it makes sense to cut him. He’ll likely head down to the G-League, or he could go overseas, but he’s sure to remain irrelevant in fantasy hoops.

Jawun Evans (sports hernia surgery) briefly checked into Sunday’s game late in the first quarter.
Evans’ season ended in early April last year but he’s had plenty of time to recover. His biggest hurdle to fantasy relevance is the glut of guards in L.A.'s backcourt, which includes Pat Beverley, Avery Bradley, Milos Teodosic, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Lou Williams. He played 4.3 seconds in this exhibition, which crystallizes the problem.

The Clippers used the No. 39 pick, via Philadelphia, to select Oklahoma St. PG Jawun Evans on Thursday.
L.A. traded for the rights to Evans, a 6'1" guard who averaged 19.0 points, 6.5 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 1.7 steals last season. He’s just 6’1" and he posted a poor 33.5-inch max vertical at the combine, but he thrives in pick-and-roll sets and plays a controlled game. It’s possible he’s the latest undersized guy to get minutes, especially since the Clippers aren’t overflowing with backcourt depth.

Jawun Evans is scheduled for a workout with the Pacers on Wednesday.
Evans is a maestro with the pick-and-roll, although he struggled to convert at the rim during his two-year college career. The Pacers might be looking for a point guard in the draft if they can’t retain Jeff Teague during free agency, although Evans figures to be more of a backup than a starter at the next level.

Jawun Evans reportedly has workouts scheduled with Portland, Oklahoma City and Utah.
Evans put in averages of 19.0 points, 6.5 dimes, 1.1 triples, 1.7 steals and 2.8 turnovers during his sophomore season at Oklahoma State, and while he is a bit undersized and lacks explosive athleticism, he’s able to make up for that with his strength, solid footwork and a high basketball IQ. He’s particularly adept at running the pick-and-roll, and he’s currently projected to come off the board in the 30-range.
