    Texans waived RB Jawhar Jordan.
Jordan was officially waived with an injury settlement after suffering an oblique injury. Per NBC Houston’s Aaron Wilson, “He will revert to injured reserve if he clears waivers. Jordan had some impressive moments during the preseason.”

Texans selected Louisville RB Jawhar Jordan with the No. 205 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Entering the NFL Draft off a late burst of production, Jordan (5’10/193) is a small back who can also return kicks. He redshirted his freshman year at Syracuse, appearing in four games. Jordan then transferred to Louisville and had his sophomore season ended in just three games due to injury. His production showed in the last two seasons, totaling 815 rushing yards in 2022 before rushing for 1,128 yards and 13 touchdowns on 181 carries with 21 receptions for 246 yards and a touchdown in 2023. Despite the production, his smaller frame makes it tough to trust his ability to shake tackles at the next level. NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein says a strength of Jordan’s is having “productive working wheel and seam routes out of the backfield.” Jordan’s 4.56 40-yard dash doesn’t alleviate his small size, but he could earn a third-down and special teams role in the NFL.
  • HOU Running Back #22
Former Syracuse redshirt freshman RB Jawhar Jordan transferred to Louisville.
Jordan (5'9/172), who entered his name into the transfer portal back in early January, has resurfaced at another ACC Atlantic school. The redshirt freshman appeared in just three games last season due to a leg injury, rushing for 177 yards and one touchdown with an average of 4.0 yards per carry. Jordan was also able to contribute in the passing game, racking up seven receptions for 121 yards. He will have up to four seasons of eligibility remaining at Louisville, which hosts Syracuse on November 13.

  • HOU Running Back #22
Syracuse redshirt freshman RB Jawhar Jordan entered the NCAA transfer portal.
Jordan (5'9/172) began the 2020 season as Syracuse’s starting running back, but he suffered a season-ending leg injury during the third game of the season. An excellent athlete, the redshirt freshman is now in search of a new school. In two seasons at Syracuse, Jordan rushed for 177 yards and one touchdown with an average of 4.0 yards per carry while also catching seven passes for 121 yards. He will have up to four seasons of eligibility remaining.

  • HOU Running Back #22
Syracuse redshirt freshman RB Jawhar Jordan has been ruled out for Saturday’s game vs. Boston College due to a lower body injury.
Jordan (5'9/172) has been out since Syracuse’s late-September game vs. Georgia Tech, which has limited the Orange’s depth at running back. Freshman Sean Tucker, who had been sidelined due to an ankle injury, is in uniform and is expected to play Saturday afternoon. He’ll likely take on much of the workload as Syracuse will also be starting a freshman quarterback in JaCobian Morgan.

  • HOU Running Back #22
Syracuse redshirt freshman RB Jawhar Jordan (lower body) has been ruled out for Saturday’s game vs. Duke.
Jordan (5'9/172) suffered a lower body injury during the Orange’s game vs. Georgia Tech two weeks ago, and that is what will keep him on the sideline. Markenzy Pierre will likely move into the starting running back role, and slot receiver Trebor Pena was seen taking pregame reps at running back.

  • HOU Running Back #22
Syracuse redshirt freshman RB Jawhar Jordan is listed as the starter ahead of Saturday’s opener vs. North Carolina.
The running back position was the one to watch during the preseason for Syracuse, as the team had to account for the loss of its top three rushers from a season ago. Jordan (5'9/172), who rushed for 105 yards and a touchdown in four games (thus preserving the season of eligibility), came out on top with redshirt junior Markenzy Pierre listed second on the depth chart. Expect to see both against the Tar Heels, but it will be Jordan who’s on the field for Syracuse’s first offensive snap.

  • HOU Running Back #22
Syracuse received a verbal commitment from three-star 2018 RB Jawhar Jordan.
“I’ve got a great connection with the coaches and they’ve showed me a lot of love, which not only me but my family appreciated as well,” Jordan told Scout.com. The 5-foot-10, 160-pounder ranks as the outlet’s No. 6 running back prospect in the West. His main appeal comes in his speed -- Jordan has been clocked at 4.48 seconds in the 40-yard dash. He opted to commit to Syracuse over Iowa State, Arizona, Kansas and Rutgers.
