  • FA Quarterback #17
Buffalo, Carolina, Oakland, Jacksonville and an unknown team are interested in Jason Campbell, according to ESPN Radio 980 in Washington D.C.
It’s worth noting that this is the Redskins’ radio station. Campbell never appeared to be a part of the new regime’s long-term plans and now they’ll take whatever they can get for him. There are no surprises on this list, although Campbell would have the best chance to start in Oakland or Buffalo.
  • FA Quarterback #17
Unsigned restricted free agent Jason Campbell’s future in Washington is in limbo after the team acquired Donovan McNabb on Sunday.
It’s entirely possible that the Skins will (or already did) rescind his first- and third-round tender. Otherwise, Campbell will be available for trade. He could appeal to clubs like Buffalo, Carolina, and Oakland. We’d tentatively expect Campbell to end up somewhere he’d be given a fighting chance to start, so dynasty leaguers shouldn’t give up all hope just yet.
  • FA Quarterback #17
Coach Mike Shanahan confirmed at Tuesday’s press conference that Jason Campbell has been given the green light to seek a starting opportunity with another team.
Shanahan also indicated that the Redskins will bring him back as Donovan McNabb’s backup if a trade can’t be worked out, though that’s a slim possibility. The Bills and Raiders are believed to be his most likely suitors. With his size, mobility, and the arm strength to cut through Buffalo’s icy winds, he makes a lot of sense for the Bills.
  • FA Quarterback #17
Restricted free agent Jason Campbell is expected to sign his tender offer by Monday at the latest.
As we saw with Seattle’s Rob Sims swap with the Lions, signing the tender may be merely a precursor to a trade. If Campbell and his agent can’t find a landing spot, he’ll be welcomed back to D.C. as Donovan McNabb’s backup.
  • FA Quarterback #17
According to the Washington Post, the “widespread belief” is that the Redskins will trade Jason Campbell for a “low pick” during the draft.
The Bills are the obvious fit, especially if they address another position of great need at No. 9 overall. Bruce Gradkowski’s torn pectoral muscle could also increase the Raiders’ interest. Campbell is at least a league-average starter and is well worth the late-round pick for a franchise without a legit quarterback.
  • FA Quarterback #17
According to NFL Network’s Jason LaCanfora, the Raiders are close to a trade with the Redskins for Jason Campbell.
The Bills remain asleep at the wheel, apparently content to use a run-heavy offense with C.J. Spiller, Fred Jackson, and Marshawn Lynch. Campbell would be a major upgrade on Bruce Gradkowski and JaMarcus Russell in Oakland, increasing the fantasy value of the entire offense.
  • FA Quarterback #17
Bears signed QB Jason Campbell to a one-year, $3.5 million contract.
The Bears appear to have learned from the ghosts of Caleb Hanie after the lack of a suitable backup to Jay Cutler doomed their 2011 season. It’s a poor landing spot for Campbell from a playing-time perspective, as Cutler had missed just one career start since becoming a starter in 2007 before his freak thumb break last season. He’s being paid elite backup money, however, and will get to test the market again in 2013.
  • LAC Quarterback
Kyle Boller and Jason Campbell alternated reps with the first-team offense in Thursday’s practice.
Boller was the first quarterback through, a sign that he could be slightly ahead of Campbell at this point. The Raiders may also be trying to keep the Broncos guessing this week, which is laughable. Denver will welcome either quarterback with open arms.
  • LAC Quarterback
Coach Tom Cable admitted Wednesday that the Raiders “have no idea” who their starting quarterback will be in Week 7.
“We’ve got some issues,” said Cable in Wednesday’s conference call with Denver reporters. “So, I don’t really know when we’ll have something definitive, hopefully tomorrow, but today we’ll learn a lot, so we’ll see.” Jason Campbell will test his knee in Wednesday’s practice, and Bruce Gradkowski will do the same with his throwing shoulder. If neither shows significant improvement, Kyle Boller will likely draw the start against the Broncos.
  • FA Quarterback #17
Jason Campbell completed 13-of-22 passes for 103 yards and a touchdown in Week 1 against Denver.
He added a touchdown on a quarterback sneak. Campbell did a good job of navigating the Raiders to victory, though his performance is pretty much indicative of his fantasy potential. The Raiders will do most of their damage on the ground, and Campbell is a low-upside option. He’s not worth owning in fantasy leagues outside of the rare spot start in two quarterback leagues.
