  • FA Quarterback #8
    Eagles waived QB Carson Strong.
The teams also cut RB Jason Huntley, S Jaquiski Tartt, OL Cameron Tom, and DT Rennell Wren. Philly took a shot on Strong as a UDFA after he didn’t hear his name called in the 2022 NFL Draft. Strong is a capable pocket passer who could develop into a backup with enough time. He should find his way onto a practice squad soon.

  • FA Defensive Back #23
    Eagles released S Jaquiski Tartt.
Tartt started 14 games for the 49ers last year, totaling one pass defense and five TFLs. He has 80 career starts to his name. His inability to make the Eagles roster comes as something of a surprise. Tartt should find another home as secondary depth for 2022.

  • FA Defensive Back #23
Eagles signed S Jaquiski Tartt, formerly of the 49ers, to a one-year contract.
Tartt has plenty of experience in coverage, which makes him a solid fit for the Eagles’ defensive scheme. Marcus Epps was slotted in as Philadelphia’s starting free safety before this move. He and Tartt will likely compete in camp for that job now. Tartt started 14 games for the 49ers last year, totaling one pass defense and five TFLs. He has 80 career starts to his name.

  • FA Defensive Back #23
    49ers re-signed S Jaquiski Tartt to a one-year contract.
Tartt, 29, has struggled with injuries throughout his career, having played in just 36 of a possible 64 games since 2017. He’ll start alongside Jimmie Ward with either Marcell Harris or Tavon Wilson stepping in on dime coverages if healthy in Week 1.

  • FA Defensive Back #23
49ers S Jaquiski Tartt’s (injured reserve) season is over due to turf toe.
It could mean the end of Tartt’s 49ers career, as his contract is up at season’s end. He turns 29 in February. He has been with the club since 2015. Tartt’s Week 10 replacement, Marcell Harris, struggled mightily in his absence against the Packers, immediately surrendering a monster touchdown to Marquez Valdes-Scantling. The 49ers have suffered a truly biblical amount of injuries on defense.

  • FA Defensive Back #23
49ers placed S Jaquiski Tartt (foot) on injured reserve.
Tartt will spend the next three games on IR, with Marcell Harris replacing him in the starting lineup. The 49ers promoted RB Austin Walter to the active roster in a corresponding move.

  • FA Defensive Back #23
49ers S Jaquiski Tartt was forced from San Francisco’s Week 9 game against the Packers with a foot injury and will not return.
Tartt’s replacement Marcell Harris immediately gave up a monster touchdown to Marquez Valdes-Scantling. It is that kind of year for the 49ers. Tartt’s quick rule out suggests a multi-week injury, though he has 10 days to get cleared for Week 10 against the Saints.

  • HOU Safety #20
The 49ers will be without safeties Jimmie Ward (quad) and Jaquiski Tartt (groin) for Week 7 against the Patriots.
That leaves Marcell Harris and Tarvarius Moore as the only healthy safeties on the Niners active roster. A struggling New England passing attack will take any help it can get.

  • FA Defensive Back #23
49ers S Jaquiski Tartt is a “full go” for the Divisional Round game against the Vikings.
Tartt has missed over a month with a rib injury but is fully expected to start for the Niners against Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen. The 49ers are also hoping to have Dee Ford, Kwon Alexander, Mike Person, and Kentavius Street, too. All four of these players were limited on Tuesday.
  • FA Defensive Back #23
Coach Kyle Shanahan is “hopeful and optimistic” S Jaquiski Tartt (ribs) will play in the team’s first playoff game.
Tartt started each of the team’s first 12 games of the season before suffering this multi-week rib injury. His potential return would be a boost to the team’s already-solid secondary. Also helping matters it he potential return of DE Dee Ford (hamstring).
