    Saints released RB Jacquizz Rodgers.
The veteran receiving back was always a long shot to crack the final 53. The 5'6,” 205-pound bowling ball racked up 410 yards from scrimmage with one touchdown on 71 touches as a Buccaneer in 2018. Rodgers will look to catch on elsewhere as backfield depth.

    Saints signed RB Jacquizz Rodgers.
In search of backfield depth throughout the offseason, Rodgers replaces Rob Kelley, who just recently replaced Buck Allen in New Orleans. With Dwayne Washington standing out as the team’s RB3/4, Rodgers’ signing is hardly one to get excited about. He’ll compete with rookie Devine Ozigbo and Washington for a reserve role.

Jacquizz Rodgers rushed three times for three yards and caught his lone target for two yards in the Bucs’ Week 17 loss to the Falcons.
As Ronald Jones played himself out of the equation early, Rodgers wound up operating as the Bucs’ clear-cut No. 2 back in the second half of the season behind Peyton Barber. A replacement-level passing-game specialist, Rodgers’ return to Tampa Bay is questionable with his contract scheduled to expire.

Jacquizz Rodgers rushed three times for 15 yards in the Bucs’ Week 11 loss to the Giants.
Only one week after leading his team in receiving, Rodgers touched the ball three times and failed to record a single catch against the Giants. Apologize to your league for wasting their time if you spent any amount of FAAB on him.

Jacquizz Rodgers caught all eight of his targets for 102 yards in the Bucs’ 16-3, Week 10 loss to the Redskins.
He carried the ball just one time for no gain. The eight targets and 102 yards were both team-highs for Rodgers as the third-down and passing back behind Peyton Barber. Rodgers made a critical mistake in the second half, however, losing a fumble at the Washington 20-yard line that ended up in the end zone and recovered by the Redskins. This is a fluke line; Rodgers isn’t a fantasy option.

Jason Snelling (concussion) was held out of practice again on Thursday.
Snelling had been playing as a backup to Michael Turner and FB Ovie Mughelli before the Week 3 injury. Jacquizz Rodgers will continue to pick up snaps on passing downs, though he’s not a fantasy option just yet.

ESPN’s Pat Yasinskas projects Falcons 2011 fifth-round pick Jacquizz Rodgers as the breakout player in the NFC South this season.
Yasinskas sensed “genuine excitement” in coach Mike Smith’s tone during a recent discussion about Rodgers. While Rodgers is undoubtedly headed for a bigger role with Michael Turner in decline, we have many reservations about recommending him as a more than a late-round fantasy pick. At 5-foot-6, 196, Rodgers will never be more than a role player. And he lacks both the dynamic playmaking ability and situation of a Maurice Jones-Drew or Darren Sproles.

Coach Mike Smith suggested this week that Jacquizz Rodgers’ skill-set will not limit him to passing downs in the future.
“I see Jacquizz as a three-down back,” Smith said. “I think Darren Sproles could be a three-down back in certain offenses and I think Jacquizz can be as well.” We don’t envision Rodgers as Michael Turner’s feature-back successor. He’s not quite as explosive as Sproles, but he could accrue fantasy value as a flex option in a tandem attack.

Falcons rookie RB Jacquizz Rodgers caught four passes for 18 yards in the team’s Wild Card round loss to the Giants.
He didn’t get a carry despite Jason Snelling’s broken jaw and Michael Turner’s struggles. Rodgers, a 2011 fifth-round pick out of Oregon State, is almost certainly headed for a bigger 2012 role after a 78-touch rookie year. While the pint-sized Rodgers does not project as a long-term feature back, he can be part of the excuse for the Falcons to limit Turner’s workload.

Jacquizz Rodgers rushed seven times for 30 yards and added one reception for eight yards against the Saints in Week 10.
Jason Snelling had an impressive 21-yard tackle-breaking touchdown catch, but rushed just once for zero yards. Rodgers is the preferred change-of-pace option, though the two would split carries if Michael Turner goes down.
