    Titans released WR Racey McMath.
One of the best names in football won’t be on the Titans’ roster come Week 1, as Racey McMath has been let go by the team. In addition to McMath, the Titans also released/waived LB Chance Campbell WR Mason Kinsey, DE Sam Okuayinonu, Ben Niemann, DB Shyheim Carter, DT Michael Dwumfour, DB Eric Garror, WR Tre’Shaun Harrison, DB Steven Jones, DB Tyreque Jones, WR Mason Kinsey, OT John Leglue, DB Armani Marsh, DE T.K. McLendon, TE Thomas Odukoya, OT John Ojukwu, RB Jacques Patrick, WR Reggie Roberson OT Andrew Rupcich, LB Thomas Rush, DT Trevon Coley, DT Jaleel Johnson, DT Kyle Peko, TEE Kevin Rader, OG Jordan Roos, and NT Tyler Shelvin.
  • FA Running Back #39
    49ers waived RB Jacques Patrick.
Patrick’s release is a terrific sign that JaMycal Hasty (ankle, IR) is ready to go in Week 7 once San Francisco returns from the bye. Patrick’s tenure with the 49ers comes to a close after he handled two carries on six snaps. It’s possible the team re-signs him to the practice squad once he inevitably clears waivers.

  • SF Running Back #25
49ers general manager John Lynch said RB Elijah Mitchell (shoulder) is “very questionable” for Week 3.
Mitchell is looking iffy, at best, for the Niners’ Week 3 date with the Packers. Mitchell, after missing some of the team’s Week 2 game with a shoulder issue, did not practice Wednesday and Thursday. The San Jose Mercury News’ Cam Inman said Trey Sermon -- who suffered a concussion in Week 2 -- “looks like he’s going to have opportunities” if he’s cleared to face the Packers on Sunday night. This week the team signed ex-XFL RB Jacques Patrick, who Lynch jokingly compared to John Riggins. Patrick could lead the Niners backfield if Sermon and Mitchell are inactive this week. San Francisco’s backfield is a complete mess and will give fantasy managers heartburn throughout the weekend. Anyone rostering a Niners running back needs to have a backup plan for Sunday night.

  • IND Running Back #27
49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said RB Trey Sermon (concussion) is “on a good path” to play in Week 3 against the Packers.
For what it’s worth, Shanahan also said Elijah Mitchell has a “chance” to play after missing Wednesday’s practice with a shoulder issue that Shanahan labeled “a little more” than the stinger the team initially had hoped he suffered. With only special teams ace Trenton Cannon and former XFL RB Jacques Patrick (6'2/234) on the active roster, whomever is available between Sermon and Mitchell will likely lead the team’s backfield in touches by default. Kerryon Johnson and Chris Thompson are also available to be promoted from the practice squad if need be. It’s a situation that won’t be decided until Friday’s final injury report (if not Sunday morning inactives).

  • FA Running Back #39
    49ers signed RB Jacques Patrick.
Patrick had been on the Bengals’ practice squad before the running back-needy Niners came calling. The 49ers backfield has been ravaged by injuries -- a tradition like no other -- over the season’s first two weeks, forcing the team to seek backfield help wherever they can find it. Patrick, an enormous 6'3", 236 pound back out of Florida State, could see decent run in the coming weeks with JaMychal Hasty (ankle) and Trey Sermon (concussion) highly questionable for Week 3. Elijah Mitchell is dealing with a shoulder injury that could limit him in practice this week. In five XFL games in 2020, Patrick rushed for 254 yards on 60 carries (4.2 YPC) and two touchdowns. He caught five passes for 49 yards. Patrick played for the Bengals in the 2021 preseason, rushing for 156 yards and a touchdown on 31 attempts (5 YPC). Patrick should be added in deeper formats.

  • FA Running Back #39
    Bengals waived RB Jacques Patrick.
He was competing for the third or fourth running back spot in Cincy after landing a deal out of the XFL. Patrick is a brick house at 6'3/236 and is believed to be a candidate for the Bengals’ practice squad.

  • FA Running Back #39
Bengals signed RB Jacques Patrick to a three-year contract.
A towering 6-foot-3, 236 pounds, Patrick went undrafted out of Florida State last year. He failed to latch on in the NFL before a stint in the XFL. Patrick’s stats were not overly impressive in the now-defunct league, but his size jumps off the page. Perhaps the Bengals saw something on film. Patrick is 23.
