  • LV Defensive Back #28
Raiders RCB Nnamdi Asomugha is not expected to shadow the Texans’ top receiver this week as he did with Larry Fitzgerald in Week 3.
As Rotoworld’s Evan Silva points out, Jacoby Jones filled in as the LWR, with Kevin Walter as the RWR, back in 2007 when LWR Andre Johnson missed time. Asomugha usually matches up against the left wide receiver. For what it’s worth, Raiders coach Tom Cable has “no doubt in his mind” that Johnson will play for Houston this week.
  • FA Wide Receiver #13
Receivers coach Larry Kirksey says Jacoby Jones is finally “close” to becoming a consistent asset.
Jones is 27 and in his fifth NFL season. “Sometimes it takes guys longer to master their skills,” Kirksey said. With Kevin Walter (shoulder) tentatively expected to miss 1-2 weeks, the Texans have plenty of faith in Jones as their No. 2 wideout. He’ll be an option in deeper formats anytime Walter or Andre Johnson sits.
  • FA Wide Receiver #13
Jacoby Jones will start against the Dolphins Sunday if Kevin Walter (collarbone) can’t go.
Jones has plenty of talent and explosiveness, but inconsistency has been an issue throughout his career. And now that the Texans are running more effectively and often than ever before, Jones’ target count could be an issue. Still, there’s enough upside here to make an add just in case Walter’s collarbone issue lingers. Bryant Johnson would become the third receiver in that case.
  • FA Wide Receiver #87
Texans coach Gary Kubiak said Monday that he expects Kevin Walter (shoulder) to play in Week 3 against the Saints.
“There’s a good chance that Kevin will be back this week,” said Kubiak, adding that Walter was “pretty close” to playing against the Dolphins. Jacoby Jones managed 48 yards on three receptions in Week 2, and the two will likely continue to rotate going forward. The situation is best left avoided in fantasy.
  • FA Wide Receiver #13
Jacoby Jones caught three passes for 48 yards against the Dolphins in Week 2.
Starting in place of Kevin Walter, Jones set up the Texans’ first field goal with an impressive 31-yard catch on a tipped ball down the sideline. With the Texans in clock-killing mode in the second half, Jones saw just four targets on the afternoon. He’ll be a risk/reward WR3 option against the Saints next week.
  • FA Wide Receiver #13
The Houston Chronicle expects Jacoby Jones (knee, questionable) to be active Sunday.
Jones was able to turn in only one limited practice this week, but will apparently be a go against the Saints. Targeted just four times in Kevin Walter’s absence last Sunday, Jones is safely droppable with Walter back from his shoulder injury.
  • FA Wide Receiver #13
Jacoby Jones (knee) was limited in Texans practice for the second straight day Thursday.
Unless Jones misses Friday’s practice entirely, he should be active for Week 4. Coming off a one-catch, 19-yard performance, he will not be a strong play against the Steelers this weekend.
  • FA Wide Receiver #13
Jacoby Jones caught just one pass for nine yards in the Texans’ Week 5 loss to the Raiders.
In an incredibly inefficient, Berrianesque performance, Jones tied Owen Daniels for the team lead with 11 targets but hauled in just the one. Jones may get another start in Week 6 against the Ravens, but we wouldn’t blame you at all for wanting to drop him immediately. He’s just not a natural wide receiver.
  • FA Wide Receiver #13
Coach Gary Kubiak said Jacoby Jones has “got to step up big” after his dismal performance Sunday.
Jones was brutally ineffective, rounding off routes and catching one pass on 11 targets. He’ll likely play almost every down once again this week with Andre Johnson (hamstring) sidelined, but will be a high-risk fantasy option. Jones is more of a mere speedster than true receiver at this point.
  • FA Wide Receiver #13
Jacoby Jones was held to just 27 yards on two receptions against the Titans in Week 7.
Jones had a nice sideline catch for a first down but was otherwise an afterthought in an offense dominated by the ground game in Week 7. He’ll head back to the No. 3 receiver role if Andre Johnson (hamstring) returns for Week 8 against the Jags.
