Jaguars signed Georgia S J.R. Reed.
Reed (6’1/202) was a captain and three-year starter at Georgia who earned first-team All-SEC honors as a sixth-year senior after compiling 54 tackles, eight pass deflections, and two turnovers. He split his defensive reps between slot corner and free safety, and can continue doing so in the NFL, albeit likely in a backup role. At the NFL Combine, he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.54 seconds, finishing as a 32nd percentile overall athlete. His slender frame and age -- he’ll be 24 years old on draft night -- limit his overall ceiling, but Reed has the mindset, instincts, and experience to compete for subpackage and special teams snaps in the NFL.
