Rays acquired C J.D. Gonzalez from the Padres in a four-player trade.
Gonzalez has not hit much in 2024 with a 552 OPS and no homers over 161 at-bats at Low-A Lake Elsinore. He is considered a terrific defender behind the plate, however, and the 2023 third-round pick doesn’t turn 19 until October 3. Still, this is more of a quality “real life” prospect than one who offers significant fantasy upside.
