Vikings waived CB Holton Hill from injured reserve.
Hill was battling a foot injury. The 2018 UDFA’s season never got on track because of injury. This, after his 2019 never got on track because of PED suspensions. Hill is only 23, but he enters the waiver wire with only six career starts to his name. Two of those did come this season. Perhaps he will draw a claim.

  • FA Defensive Back #27
Vikings placed CB Holton Hill (foot) on injured reserve.
Battling foot issues for over a month, Hill has not played since Week 4, making one wonder why this move wasn’t made sooner. It’s just the latest development in the Vikings’ cursed injury year in the secondary. Hill must now miss at least the next three games. Cameron Dantzler (concussion), Mark Fields II (punctured lung) and Harrison Hand (hamstring) all had Week 9 injury issues, leaving Jeff Gladney, Kris Boyd and Chris Jones as the Vikes’ current top three.

  • FA Defensive Back #27
Vikings CB Holton Hill (foot) won’t play in Week 9 against the Lions.
Cameron Dantzler (concussion) and Mark Fields II (punctured lung) have also been ruled out. Harrison Hand (hamstring) remains questionable. As it stands, rookie Jeff Gladney, Kris Boyd and Chris Jones, the latter who was recently waived by the Lions, would start in nickel packages against Detroit.

  • FA Defensive Back #27
Vikings declared CB Holton Hill, CB Chris Jones, S Curtis Riley, WR Tajae Sharpe, DE Jordan Brailford, OT Oli Udoh and WR Dan Chisena inactive for Week 8 against the Packers.
Green Bay will be short stud LT David Bakhtiari, but it may not matter since the Vikings are down DE Yannick Ngakoue (traded), CB Mike Hughes (IR) and Hill. Expect Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams to have a field day against Minnesota’s secondary.

  • FA Defensive Back #27
Vikings CB Holton Hill (foot) is out for Week 8 agains the Packers.
The Vikings defense was already bad, and now they’re down DE Yannick Ngakoue (traded), CB Hill (out), CB Mike Hughes (IR), and CB Cameron Dantlzer (COVID-19 list). Whoever is defending Davante Adams this week has little to now shot as slowing him down.

  • ATL Cornerback #21
The Vikings could be without three of their top four cornerbacks this week against the Packers.
Corners Mike Hughes (neck), Holton Hill (foot), and Kris Boyd (hamstring/back) are looking questionable for Week 8 after Hughes and Hill missed Thursday’s practice and Boyd was limited. The Vikings face off against a Green Bay offense that shredded them in Week 1. Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams couldn’t be in a better spot.

  • FA Defensive Back #27
Vikings CB Holton Hill (foot) is inactive for Week 5 against Seattle.
The Vikings are without both Hill and CB Kris Boyd (hamstring) this week. Oli Udoh, WR KJ Osborn, DT Hercules Mata’afa have also been ruled out.

  • FA Defensive Back #27
Vikings CB Holton Hill (foot) is questionable for Week 5 against the Seahawks.
As is CB Kris Boyd (hamstring). Both will at least be afforded a few extra hours to recover ahead of kick-off since this matchup against Seattle is currently slated for Sunday night. Fortunately for Minnesota’s front-seven, Eric Kendricks was removed from Friday’s injury report.

  • FA Defensive Back #27
NFL suspended Vikings CB Holton Hill four games for violating the league’s substance-abuse policy.
Amusingly, Hill was already serving a four-game PED ban, so he will now miss the first half of the season. Hill was a key piece of depth as an undrafted rookie last season, but his bans could have him near the bottom of the depth chart when he is finally eligible to return.
  • FA Defensive Back #27
NFL suspended Vikings CB Holton Hill four games for violating the league’s policy on PEDs.
Undrafted out of Texas, Hill wound up playing all 16 games for Minnesota in 2018 including three starts. He finished his rookie campaign with 30 tackles and one interception over 374 defensive snaps. Hill can take part in the Vikings’ offseason program but won’t suit up for them until Week 5.
