Titans signed RB Herb Donaldson, WRs Michael Preston and James Kirkendoll, OLs Troy Kropog and Ryan Durand, CB Terrence Wheatley, TE Cameron Graham, and DE Pannel Egboh to reserve/future contracts.
This was the Titans’ 2011 practice squad, to end the season at least. Graham and Kirkendoll are athletic freaks with some long-term upside. Wheatley is a former second-round bust, picked by the Patriots. Donaldson, a plodding runner, is unlikely to push Jaime Harper or Javon Ringer off the 2012 roster.
  • FA Running Back #36
Titans released RB Herb Donaldson, K/P Will Batson, QB Nick Stephens, C William Vlachos, TE Joey Haynos, S Christian Scott, and OL George Bias.
Undrafted out of Western Illinois back in 2009, Donaldson spent the 2011 season on the practice squad. He wasn’t going to stick as a fourth running back. Nick Stephens’ release means Rusty Smith has won the No. 3 quarterback job.
  • NO Running Back
Lynell Hamilton will join the Saints rookies and tryout candidates at this weekend’s rookie minicamp.
The Saints remain high on the 6'0/235 bruiser who spent all of last season on the practice squad. He’s battling undrafted rookies P.J. Hill and Herb Donaldson for a roster spot, with the slim possibility of filling Deuce McAllister’s old power role.
  • FA Running Back #36
Saints signed Western Illinois RB Herb Donaldson to a three-year contract.
The Saints were able to outbid seven other teams by handing out the three-year deal. The bowling-ball runner will compete for a roster spot and could emerge as a short-yardage and goal-line option down the line.
  • FA Running Back #36
Saints waived RB Herb Donaldson, OG Nathan Bennett, OT Michael Brown, C Digger Bujnoch, G Tim Duckworth, and CB Danny Gorrer.
Donaldson was outplayed by Mike Bell and Lynell Hamilton in the preseason. Both he and P.J. Hill are practice squad possibilities. No other surprises.
  • FA Running Back #36
Cowboys signed RB Herb Donaldson, OL Travis Bright, LB Donovan Woods, and CB Marquis Floyd to reserve/future contracts.
Donaldson, who went undrafted in 2009, will try to hang on as Dallas’ No. 4 back behind Felix Jones, Marion Barber, and Tashard Choice. He’s a long shot for the 2010 roster. Woods will get a good look as a special teamer.
  • PIT Defensive Back #47
Titans signed S Myron Rolle, RB Herb Donaldson, OG Ryan Durand, OT Jeff Hansen, DL Pannel Egboh, and TE Riar Geer to reserve/future contracts.
Rhodes Scholar Rolle spent the season on the Titans’ practice squad after passing through waivers in early September. Donaldson was once considered a candidate for short-yardage duties in New Orleans. He spent the 2010 training camp with the Cowboys.
  • FA Running Back #36
Titans signed RB Herb Donaldson to their practice squad.
We won’t do updates for each practice squad addition, but Donaldson is a name to stash in deeper leagues considering the Titans’ lack of depth behind Chris Johnson and Javon Ringer. He’ll need two injuries to become relevant in 12-team leagues.
  • FA Running Back #36
Cowboys waived RB Herb Donaldson, RB Lonyae Miller, OT Will Barker, TE DajLeon Farr, OLB Curtis Johnson, and DL Jimmy Saddler-McQueen.
The Cowboys liked what they saw out of Donaldson and Miller, but the team is only carrying three backs. Miller, who played Ryan Mathews at Fresno State, could end up on the practice squad.
  • FA Running Back #36
Titans signed RB Herb Donaldson, DE Pannel Egboh, TE Cameron Graham, WR James Kirkendoll, WR Michael Preston, S Robert Johnson and OG Ryan Durand to their practice squad.
The Titans have added depth this year with rookie Jamie Harper joining Chris Johnson and Javon Ringer, so Donaldson is a long way from the fantasy radar. Kirkendoll and Preston were undrafted out of Texans and Heidelberg University respectively.
