  • LAL Power Forward #14
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Lakers have signed Harry Giles III to a two-way contract.
Waived by the Nets after the trade deadline, Giles did not see much action during his time in Brooklyn. That’s likely to be the case with the Lakers, although there is a potential path to minutes due to the absences of Christian Wood and Colin Castleton. Wood was on the back end of the rotation when healthy, and Castleton wasn’t a consistent option, so fantasy managers should not expect too much from Giles. To free up a two-way slot, the Lakers have waived Dylan Windler.
  • FA Power Forward #14
The Nets waived Harry Giles III on Thursday, per Bleacher Report’s Chris Haynes.
Giles hasn’t played a large role this season, so this won’t have much of an impact on their rotation. However, this does open up a roster spot for them.
  • BKN Small Forward #1
Mikal Bridges will get a rest night against the 76ers on Monday, while Nic Claxton and Day’Ron Sharpe will be back in the lineup.
Bridges will get a night off, but he should be ready for opening night. Claxton and Sharpe will be back in the lineup after missing their last game, which means that Harry Giles will likely move back to a role off the bench.
  • BKN Center #16
Harry Giles got the start on Thursday and contributed 16 points (8-for-10 FGs), 10 rebounds and one steal against Maccabi Ra’anana.
Giles signed a one-year deal with the Nets this off-season, and he got the starting nod in this game with Nicolas Claxton and Day’Ron Sharpe both out. He took advantage of the opportunity and recorded a double-double. The former top player in the 2016 high school class hasn’t been able to figure things out in the NBA, but he could find a home in Brooklyn if he keeps this up. However, it’s unlikely that he ever plays as much as he did in this game.
  • BKN Center #16
Cam Thomas, Ben Simmons, Spencer Dinwiddie, Mikal Bridges, and Harry Giles will start Thursday’s exhibition against Maccabi Ra’Anana.
The Nets will be without multiple rotation players Thursday night, notably Cameron Johnson and Nic Claxton. As a result, Thomas remains in the starting lineup, and Harry Giles will fill in as the starting center. In the case of Thomas, he’s looking to ensure a place in the rotation once the regular season begins. While he is a prolific scorer, doing more defensively may be what accomplishes that goal. As for Giles, he’s fighting for a roster spot after spending the last few seasons outside of the NBA after the start of his career was largely derailed by injuries.
  • NBA Center #16
According to Bleacher Report’s Chris Haynes, Harry Giles has agreed to a one-year deal with the Nets.
Giles hasn’t appeared in an NBA game since May of 2021, but after working out for a number of teams and showcasing his skills in hype videos, the young center has found a new home in Brooklyn. He’ll compete for backup minutes behind Nicolas Claxton, but Giles is unlikely to be an impactful player in 12-team fantasy leagues this season.
  • NBA Power Forward #95
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Warriors will host multiple free agents for workouts over the next few weeks.
The Warriors are well under the roster limit for training camp (20), as they have a total of 14 players guaranteed to be present in early October. Given the team’s salary cap situation, they have to look for relative bargains to fill out the roster. As a result, multiple free agents will work out for the team over the next two weeks. According to the report, Juan Toscano-Anderson is one of those players. Also reportedly headed to the Bay Area to work out for the Warriors are Dion Waiters, Tony Snell, Kent Bazemore, Harry Giles, and Trey Burke. Toscano-Anderson and Bazemore have been with the Warriors before, but there’s no telling if the familiarity will enhance their chances of sticking.
  • NBA Center #16
According to SNY’s Ian Begley, free agent center Harry Giles has scheduled workouts with the Nets and Warriors.
Giles, who held a private workout that was attended by multiple teams in early July in Las Vegas, worked out for the Magic last week. He’ll work out for Brooklyn on Sunday and Golden Warriors at some point next week. The 2017 lottery pick has been out of the NBA since October 2021, with injuries playing a major role in Giles’ absence from the court. His best chance of a return to the NBA could be on a two-way deal, especially with teams now having three slots to play with instead of two.
  • NBA Center #16
According to Bleacher Report’s Chris Haynes, Harry Giles and Dion Waiters will hold separate private workouts for NBA teams on Monday in Las Vegas.
Giles (who last appeared in an NBA game during the 2020-21 season) and Waiters (who has been out since winning a title in the bubble with the Lakers in 2020) are looking to earn another shot in the NBA, so they’ll hold separate workouts for NBA teams while in Las Vegas. While the latter has eight seasons of NBA experience under his belt, the former only played three injury-riddled years for the Kings and Trail Blazers, with the Clippers waiving Giles in October 2021.
  • LAL Power Forward #20
The Clippers have waived Harry Giles.
Giles inked a non-guaranteed deal with the Clippers to join training camp, and while he did garner some praise from head coach Tyronn Lue on his way out the door, he was ultimately beat out by Isaiah Hartenstein for the final roster spot. He should find another low-end deal somewhere, but he’s well off the radar in fantasy hoops.
