Heady stuff for a guy whose last top 55 on the PGA TOUR occured at the 2004 Reno-Tahoe Open (T18). Now 51 years of age, he’s cashed in all six of his appearances on the Champions Tour this year. At Annandale today, he hit just 12 greens in regulation but limited the damage to one bogey and erased it with seven birdies. The set including a zero-putt five-yarder from just off the green at the third hole and traditional conversions measuring 17'6" and 29'7" at Nos. 8 and 15.

It looks like Wood is going to play this week on the Nationwide Tour’s Miccosukee Championship. He has been replaced in the field by Gary Hallberg, who is also listed in the Miccosukee field and will have to make a choice of which event to play in.

Wood has mostly played on the Nationwide Tour this season, where he has made the cut in four of his five starts on the Tour.

He tied for 18th at last year’s edition, so it’s a bit disappointing for the hardcore golf fans to see him split. Now a full-timer on the Champions Tour, he’s cashed in all 14 of his starts on that circuit this season but only one went for a top 25.

Wood has one start on the Nationwide Tour this season and he finished in a tie for 50th place at the Panama Digicel Championship. He did play last year at the Puerto Rico Open, but he failed to make the cut.
