The forecast looked ugly to start the week but things now look to be clear after this initial burst of rain and thunder. The bad news is that the current patch is strolling through Augusta National for the next few hours at least. There were three groups that got their day started before the delay. There have been three bogeys and one double bogey recorded while the first birdie has yet to drop. It is possible, but not a given, that they choose to restart the round entirely when play resumes. It is also a longstanding policy decision at Augusta National to avoid preferred lies so games should not expect to see lift, clean, and place, at anytime this week. Sandy Lyle was one of those nine golfers that played in the rain this morning. He started on the 10th and missed the green before taking two more swipes for a bogey. Lyle is playing his 39th Masters with his most recent cut made coming at the 2014 edition (T44).
