Arnold Palmer has been released from the hospital and is at home resting, according to the Arnold Palmer Invitational’s Facebook page.
Palmer was admitted to an Orlando-area hospital Sunday afternoon as a precautionary move due to high blood pressure. The 82-year-old was not at Bay Hill to congratulate tournament champion Tiger Woods.
About 15 minutes before play ended, Palmer had his blood pressure checked and physicians advised him that the levels were high enough that he should go to the hospital, which he did.
“Nobody is overly concerned about the prognosis,” said Alastair Johnston, Palmer’s business manager, Sunday evening. “Although he is going to remain in the hospital overnight for observation.”
Palmer’s grandson, Sam Saunders, who competed in the tournament, tweeted Sunday night: “For all concerned my granddad is doing fine and will be good to go tomorrow. Thank you for all of your nice comments and concern.”
