AUGUSTA, Ga. – Louis Oosthuizen just sent a major Sunday roar through Augusta National with a double-eagle 2 on the par-5 second hole.
The shot - from 260 yards out - hit the front of the green and rolled all the way into the hole in the back, right portion of the green. It moved him to 10 under par and into the lead by two shots over Phil Mickelson.
Oosthuizen, the 2010 British Open champion, was the first player in Masters history to record a double eagle at the second hole and only the fourth to make a double eagle in the history of the tournament.
Gene Sarazen made double eagle at No. 15 in 1935, while Bruce Devlin made one on the eighth hole in 1967 and Jeff Maggert made one in 1994 on the 13th hole.
