An amateur of the highest standards is Johnny Goodman, 20, of Omaha, Nebraska, youngest golfer to qualify for the National Open Tournament, who rather than accept aid of several Omaha Golf Clubs in defraying his expenses, is traveling to New York as a steer tender. He will play against the cream of the United States over the Winged Foot Course at Mamaroneck, New York, next week. He is a caddy.

Goodman, who a few years ago was a caddy and two years ago won the Mississippi golf tournament, going to the match in a box car. He went into the national spotlight this year when he was medalist of the 1,4000 professional and amateur golfers qualify in the various district elimination for the National Open.
