John Swantek is the host of Inside the PGA TOUR which airs weekly on Golf Channel and is also a host on PGATOUR.com. After participating in the Front Nine segment on Tuesday’s Morning Drive, Swantek was asked about where he feels that Zurich Classic of New Orleans Champion Jason Dufner is headed. Swantek said that Dufner has now successfully tackled his biggest challenge by earning his first PGA TOUR win. Dufner said that it may not look as though he gets nervous but he does get nervous. Now that he has won, it will be easier for Dufner to win again and to grow in his career.

Davis Love III will have a very interesting perspective as the U.S. Ryder Cup captain because while he understands the value of experienced veterans, he also understands the value of youth and inexperience and Jason Dufner is a player who could be a great fit on the U.S. team not only because of how he is playing but also because he is someone who has not played on a Ryder Cup and will be excited and hungry to succeed.

When asked about Tiger Woods’ decision to forego a news conference this week in favor of a 14 minute video of answering fan questions on his website, Swantek said that it has received mixed reviews. Fans seem to like it but Swantek wishes that Tiger had selected more difficult or at least more interesting questions than the ones he actually answered. The best case scenario is having a player like Tiger do a web conference with fans as well as a news conference with members of the media.

The natural reaction of many was that Tiger is trying to control the message but Tiger has always tried to control the message when it comes to what he says to the public and how he answers questions from the media. A lot of fans are anti-media and those fans are more supportive of players because they think that the media is out to get those players.

One of the best ways to attract an excellent field to your tournament is to hold it on a Major Championship-caliber course and Quail Hollow Club is certainly one of those courses. The last three holes – The Green Mile – is an incredibly strong finishing stretch and the fact that Major Champions are among the past winners of the Wells Fargo Championship confirms the quality of the course.
