Ecco continues to expand its position in the so-called street/hybrid golf shoe market that it almost singlehandedly brought to prominence three years ago, when Fred Couples wore its Golf Street shoes in the 2010 Masters. Most recently, the Denmark-based company added two models to its collection: the Golf Street Sport and the Biom Zero.
The Sport joins the Golf Street line that already has four elements – Luxe, Textile, Camel and Premier – and what it offers is a new upper pattern that features tactile embellishments and Hydromax-treated leathers designed to be more resistant to water and perspiration. They come with a somewhat sportier look than the other Golf Street products and boast bold color-pops.
As for the rest of the Sport, it has the same attributes as all the other Streets, including the patented outsole design with the Ecco dynamic traction system (E-dts) that consists of approximately 100 molded traction bars and 800-plus traction angles. Constructed from TPU, a highly durable, wear-resistant material, these are made to provide superior grip in all conditions.
As for the Biom Zero, it is a limited-edition product that is available in two colors (black and white) and most noteworthy for weighing in at less than 10 ounces, which makes it the lightest golf shoe Ecco has produced. It, too, is built atop the Street outsole. But Biom Zero has a direct-injected midsole construction and a extremely low profile with a “zero” heel drop that are designed to give golfers full-length foot support and the Natural Motion experience that come with Biom offerings.
And comfort, too, even as it also has a real minimalist look and feel. The uppers are made of Caldera leather that has been treated to resist water, and a second-skin leather lining is intended to wick moisture, while creating a rich, supple interior.
