There was a three-way tie for third among Julius Boros, George Fazio and Ed Furgol.

(Original Caption) With one hand Byron Nelson takes putter from bag held by caddy Donnie Fox, and with the other he holds a big umbrella to keep off the rain which marred the second day of play in the Victory National Golf Tournament at Calumet Country Club, Chicago. In July 1 play, Nelson virtually clinched his first victory National Open Championship with a 63-hole total of 240 strokes, 12-under-par, and only nine holes left to go.
