The PGA Tour asked golfers and spectators to wear pink on Sunday at The Players Championship in celebration of Mother’s Day and to support breast cancer research.

A big kudos to all those who painted themselves pink on May 13, 2012, but here’s the three that made our Best Dressed list for the week.

1. Phil Mickelson – While I don’t always agree with the southpaw’s choice of clothing, his pink trousers and belt in the final round of The Players were the perfect display of flash and class.

It’s no secret that Phil’s wife, Amy, was diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2009 and his mother, Mary, was also diagnosed with the disease in July ’09. Lefty’s ladies have undergone surgeries and treatment and are healthy today, and Mickelson’s Sunday display of pink was both pretty and empowering.

2. Zach Johnson – Johnson matched his best tournament of the ’12 season with a runner-up finish at The Players, sporting a baby pink top and white slacks. Not that we need more insight into Johnson’s softer side, but his pale pink top might also indicate he’s hoping his wife Kim – who’s pregnant with the couple’s third child – will have a baby girl this fall.

3. Jhonattan Vegas – Vegas brought the razzle and the dazzle in the fourth round of The Players, sporting a bright pink polo hotter than trip aces en route to his lowest performance of the year (T-7). Vegas broke onto the scene last season with a victory at the Bob Hope Classic but has faded into the crowd ever since. His performance at the Tour’s flagship event coupled with his attention-grabbing top says he’s again ready to take back the spotlight.
