Five of golf’s top luxury resorts are changing hands, reports the Associated Press. KSL has sold five of their properties to Texas-based Omni Hotels & Resorts. The properties are Barton Creek Resort in Austin, La Costa Resort in Carlsbad, The Homestead in Virginia, Grove Park Inn in Asheville (home to a 100-year-old Donald Ross-designed golf course) and Las Palmas Resort & Spa in the Palm Springs area.
Omni already has a modest footprint in golf. They own 36-hole Omni Tucson National, former host of a PGA Tour event. Others include Omni Championsgate in Orlando, Omni Amelia Island Plantation (which recently underwent an $85 million facelift) and Omni Interlocken Resort & Golf Club, located between Denver and Boulder.
The San Diego area’s La Costa, a former host of the WGC Match Play Championships is in the middle of a major renovation project. The North Course was recently redone and the South is currently under the knife. Barton Creek, which doubles as a resort and 72-hole private club in Austin, is the largest operation of the bunch.
