You see them in front of the camera reporting golf scores and news, but here’s a quick look at some of Golf Channel’s on-air talent behind closed doors. This week it’s Kelly Tilghman, a member of Golf Channel’s original cast and one of the network’s most versatile anchors.

Tilghman grew up in North Myrtle Beach, S.C., where her family owned and operated a golf course for 22 years. She earned a scholarship to play on the Duke University women’s golf team and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and History. From 1992-96, Tilghman played professional golf in Australia, Europe and Asia, and served as a teaching and touring pro.

What’s the hardest thing about being a broadcaster? Maintaining a routine – the travel and the hours can be all over the place.

Favorite word to slip into broadcast? It must be ‘golf’. I say it about 100 times a show.

What is a little-known secret about doing TV? That Charlie Rymer is actually short and skinny. The camera adds inches and lbs.
