ARDMORE, Pa. – Rickie Fowler loves Merion Golf Club.
And Merion loved him back Saturday at the U.S. Open.
With a 3-under-par 67, Fowler gave himself a chance going into Sunday’s final round. He began the third round tied for 37th but climbed all the way to 11th by the time he signed his scorecard. His best finish in four previous U.S. Opens is a tie for 41st.

Fowler, 24, has been looking forward to playing a U.S. Open at Merion since he went 4-0 helping the United States defeat Great Britain-Ireland in the Walker Cup four years ago.
“It’s helped a lot,” Fowler said of his Merion experience. “Just knowing that I’ve played well here before. I know I’ve made putts here. The biggest thing this week has just been staying patient, sitting back and letting things happen and I finally was able to do that today.”
