Life of Ryan

GREENSBORO, N.C. - It helps to have friends with benefits.

Ryan Palmer dropped to 127th in the FedEx Cup standings after missing the cut by 1 at the PGA Championship. Needing to play this week to move back up with points, and with a wife at home expecting their 2nd child, Palmer was able to borrow a friends jet to come to Greensboro. The pilot was to stay here in Greensboro and remain on-call in case his wife went into labor.

They arrived late Tuesday night and barely had time to refuel when Ryan got ‘the call’ just before 5:00 a.m. Wednesday morning.

And yes, he was able to make it home in time to meet his new daughter. He cannot return to play however, because he missed the pro-am. But we’re thinking six weeks off to spend at home with his baby girl, and a good story to tell her someday.
