One of the most common driving flaws for high handicappers is the chicken wing. This is where the lead arm bends at the elbow through impact.
The result is not only a loss of power but a distortion of the swing path and misdirection of the clubface, which can send the ball off in who knows what direction.
In this video segment, former LPGA great Annika Sorenstam provides a great swing thought for high handicappers to avoid the dreaded chicken wing.
During the swing, focus on where your lead elbow is pointing.
Instead of letting it point up into the air, concentrate on keeping it pointing down the line and then, through impact, rotating your arm over so it points toward the ground. This will keep your arm from bending.
