Tinning Named LET Players Player

Iben Tinning has been selected 2005 Players Player of the Year on the Robe di Kappa Ladies European Tour.

Tinning became the first Danish player to top the LET money list following her finest year as a professional. During 2005 she won three tournaments: the Open de Espana Femenino, the BMW Ladies Italian Open and the Nykredit Masters, in Denmark; more than any other player in the same year.

After ten years on tour, it feels fantastic to crown my best year with this recognition from my colleagues, many of whom are also very good friends, said Tinning. Of course I was hoping to be in contention for the award, but just because I thought 2005 was my personal best, that didnt necessarily mean that
the other girls would agree!

Tinnings magical year included a third Solheim Cup appearance at Crooked Stick Golf Club in Indiana while four months pregnant. But despite experiencing the thrill of match play competition on American shores once again after she played at Interlachen in 2002, her personal highlight of the year came at the Nykredit Masters in Europe played in her home country.

The combination of winning a tournament on home ground, the spectator support and it being my former home club made the week very special. Another great experience was my first win in Spain, where things just came together after my turbulent season in America. It proved to me that I thrive in Europe, she said.

Tinnings 12-month run began in May at the Open de Espana Femenino, where she fended off challenges from Swedens Linda Wessberg and Frenchwoman Marine Monnet Melocco to claim her third career title. She then collected her second tour trophy of the season three weeks later at the BMW Ladies
Italian Open in June, fending off home favorites Veronica Zorzi and Sophie Sandolo.

Her third victory came at the Nykredit Masters in her native Denmark, where she is a huge sports celebrity. She was ,presented with her prize by HRH Crown Princess Mary..

Results- wise, this has been my top year on the LET, but my biggest ever golf experience was without doubt when we won the Solheim Cup at Barsebck in 2003, she said.

Tinning is due to give birth in February.

Im feeling perfectly fine, obviously my tummy is getting bigger, but then again I only have nine weeks to go.I manage to get myself to the gym three times a week ' and enjoy it although the speed has been slightly adjusted on the treadmill.’
