REUNION, Fla., March 19, 2008 ' Stephanie Sparks, GOLF CHANNEL personality, has accepted a sponsors exemption to the third-annual Ginn OPEN, April 14-20 at Ginn Reunion Resort. Sparks, who played on the LPGA in 2000, is an accomplished amateur champion.
Having had the opportunity to get a taste of the LPGA in 2000 was definitely a lifelong dream come true for me, said Sparks. I am so appreciative to the people at Ginn for giving me this opportunity to play again on the Tour. After my second back surgery I thought Id never have a chance of being inside the ropes again. Having this opportunity is unexpected, and I will be enjoying every single second of it. I love the layout of course at Reunion and Im excited to play. I dont know how Ill play, but its about taking in every moment of it.
Sparks is a host of Golf With Style, Playing Lessons and is a former co-host of The Big Break. An accomplished golfer, Sparks was an All-American at Duke University from 1992 ' 1994. During her amateur career, she notched an impressive list of wins including the Womens Western Amateur Champion, Womens Eastern Amateur Champion, Womens North and South Champion, and West Virginia State Amateur Champion.
After turning professional in 1996, Sparks joined the FUTURES Golf Tour before qualifying for the LPGA in 2000. Sparks LPGA career was cut short after the 2000 season due to back surgery. Prior to joining GOLF CHANNEL’s on-air team, Sparks served as a production assistant in the networks original productions department. Her first time in front of the camera was playing Alexa Sterling in the Bobby Jones biopic Stroke of Genius.
