RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. – Benji Thompson made quite a splash Sunday as Lexi Thompson’s caddie at the Kraft Nabisco Championship.
Thompson did a flip into Poppie’s Pond with Lexi in the traditional victor’s leap.
Thompson, by the way, isn’t related to Lexi.
“A lot of people, volunteers, will ask, they think we’re related,” Benji said. “We aren’t related.”
Benji has proven a strong addition to the team. In his first week on Lexi’s bag last fall, she won the Lorena Ochoa Invitational. His real name, by the way, is Robert Benjamin Thompson. He used to caddie at Augusta National. He also worked on the Web.com Tour and once toted for Casey Wittenberg.
