Whenever Phil Mickelson, in some far-off future, does decide to call it quits on his Hall of Fame career, you can be sure he will not go quietly into that good night.
The 45-year-old five-time major winner and 2005 PGA champion focused his efforts Tuesday on trash talking the top two players in the game: Rory McIlroy and Jordan Spieth.
Naturally, the both of them, who are roughly half his age, chirped right back.
Phil: “I left mine in the locker room here.”
Spieth: “Your U.S. Open trophy?”
Phil: “No, my Wanamaker from ’05.”
Phil: “Careful on those stairs, Rory. Don’t hurt your ankle.”
Rory: “Luckily, my legs aren’t as old as yours.”
