Tiger Woods’ latest business venture? Restaurant owner.
The Palm Beach Post reported Tuesday that the former world No. 1 will open a restaurant and sports bar in his new hometown of Jupiter, Fla.
According to the Post, Woods’ 5,900-square restaurant – named “The Woods Jupiter: Sports and Dining Club” – will occupy one of the spaces in a brand-new $150 million entertainment complex at Harbourside Place. It was not immediately clear when Woods’ restaurant will be open for business, but the Post estimated a tentative early-2015 date.
“I envision a place where people can meet friends, watch sports on TV and enjoy a great meal,” Woods said. “I wanted to build it locally where I live and where it could help support the community.”
Woods’ new bar could prove to be a hot spot for many Tour players, who have flocked to South Florida because of the area’s championship-caliber venues and proximity to the ocean.
Restaurant owner is merely the latest off-the-course role for Woods, who turns 39 this fall. He’s also heavily involved in a golf-course design business (Tiger Woods Design) and the Tiger Woods Foundation.
