The R&A unveiled a new logo for the Open Championship on Tuesday, a symbol designed to capture the defining attributes of the year’s third major and share the unique heritage to golf fans around the world.
The claret jug is the centerpiece of the new logo and remains the foundation of the new branding.
Said R&A chief executive Peter Dawson: “We know that fans of the Open share a tremendously strong connection with the championship. The new branding celebrates the values long associated with the Open, the inspiration proved by great championships, the authentic and unrelenting challenge of links golf and the openness of our unique championship.”
A short film celebrating the history of the Open was also released to coincide with the new-look logo. It can be viewed at http://bit.ly/theonetheopen.
