NAPLES, Fla. – Inbee Park will meet all the criteria to be eligible for induction into the LPGA Hall of Fame after her 10th start next year.
Park should reach that 10th start before turning 28 next July, which will make her the youngest inductee in tour history. Park met the 27-point Hall of Fame standard when she clinched the Vare Trophy for low scoring average Sunday at the season-ending CME Group Tour Championship, but the LPGA also requires 10 years of active service before becoming eligible for induction. This was her ninth year.
Park is the third youngest player to meet the 27-point LPGA Hall of Fame requirement. Karrie Webb was the youngest, reaching the mark at 25, in just four-and-a-half years on tour. Because of the 10-year service requirement, she didn’t become eligible for induction until turning 30. Se Ri Pak was 26 when she met the 27-point requirement and 29 when she was inducted.
“I said the Hall of Fame would be my last goal, but it really came early, and I’ve achieved pretty much everything I set so far in my career,” Park said. “The Hall of Fame was really on my mind all this week. Going into the Hall of Fame is something I’ve been dreaming of all of my life.”
