Japan’s Shiho Oyama and Americans Jaye Marie Green and Samantha Wagner were added to the U.S. Women’s Open field on Monday.
Players who were among the top 50 in the Rolex Women’s World Rankings on Monday and were not otherwise qualified gained entry to this week’s championship at Lancaster (Pa.) Country Club. Oyama qualified by virtue of her move to No. 43 since the last rankings qualification date passed on May 6.
Green, of Boca Raton, Fla., and Wagner, of Windermere, Fla., moved into the U.S. Women’s Open based on openings reserved for top-50 qualifiers on Monday that were not filled. Green was second alternate at the sectional qualifier in Boynton Beach, Fla. Wagner, an amateur, was first alternate in the sectional in Galloway, N.J.
In other news, Jennifer Johnson withdrew from the championship, citing “medical reasons.” She was replaced in the field by Mallory Blackwelder of Scottsdale, Ariz., the first alternate from the sectional qualifier at Superstition Mountain, Ariz.
