AUGUSTA, Ga. – On the eve of the Masters, Rory McIlroy and Nike announced that they have reached an agreement on a contract extension that will reportedly keep the world No. 2 with the Swoosh for the next 10 years.
Nike announced last year that it was exiting the golf-equipment business, but McIlroy will continue to endorse the company for apparel. He does not currently have an equipment deal with any other company.
“I’ve loved this company since I was a kid,” McIlroy said in a statement announcing the extension. “I’m really happy to continue this journey with Nike.”
Financial terms of the extension were not disclosed. McIlroy told ESPN’s Marty Smith that the deal was for 10 years.
