OCALA, Fla. – Jessica Korda has a familiar name helping her get into contention at the Coates Golf Championship.

David Whelan, Paula Creamer’s former coach, is now working with Korda.

At 6 under when the third round was suspended Friday because darkness, Korda was just one shot off the lead through six holes. Korda began working with Whelan late last summer. Creamer worked with Whelan for nearly 15 years but started working with Gary Gilchrist this year.

“David and I have been working really hard this off season,” Korda said. “I’m kind of getting back to my old swing and getting back to my fundamentals and making everything really simple. I’m just trying to put in the work. On the golf course, it still feels a little off, feels a little better on the range. Just got to keep working on it.”

Korda, 22, is seeking her fifth LPGA title.
