Tommy Fleetwood, Jeunghun Wang, Hideto Tanihara and Ross Fisher all officially qualified for the Masters Monday via the final top 50 cutoff in the Official World Golf Ranking.
Fleetwood had essentially sewn up his invitation with a runner-up finish earlier this month at the WGC-Mexico Championship, while Wang was safely inside the top 50 after a win earlier this season in Qatar. Tanihara and Fisher, meanwhile, cracked the top 50 with strong performances at the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play.
Tanihara’s fourth-place finish bumped him to No. 48 and earned him his first Masters invite since 2007, while Fisher snuck in at No. 49 to return to Augusta National for the first time since 2012.
The field for the season’s first major now sits at 94 players, assuming that past champions Tiger Woods and Ian Woosnam both play. Woods’ health remains in question, while Woosnam had announced at last year’s Masters that it was his “last go.”
The final spot in the field will go to the winner of this week’s Shell Houston Open unless he is otherwise qualified.
