Here’s a look at this week’s Biggest Movers, as Sergio Garcia gets a trophy while Brooks Koepka makes a move up the Ryder Cup standings:
- Koepka surrendered a late lead at the AT&T Byron Nelson, but a playoff runner-up still moved him past Patrick Reed for the eighth and final automatic qualifying spot in the U.S. Ryder Cup standings.
- It was a big week for Koepka, but it could have been even bigger: he would’ve moved into fourth in the Ryder Cup race - past Brandt Snedeker, Rickie Fowler, Phil Mickelson and Zach Johnson - with a win.
- Koepka did move up to 16th in the latest world rankings, while the man who beat him in Dallas, Garcia, climbed three spots to No. 12 after his first victory of the year.
- Welshman Bradley Dredge finished T-2 in Ireland behind Rory McIlroy, allowing him to crack the OWGR top 100 for the first time at No. 90, a jump of 76 spots.
- Like Dredge, Colt Knost is inside the top 100 for the first time at No. 98 after following a T-3 finish at TPC Sawgrass with a T-4 finish in Dallas.
- After her second LPGA win in as many weeks, Ariya Jutanugarn jumped another eight spots to No. 13 in the Rolex Rankings.
- Gerina Piller’s T-3 finish in Virginia moved her to No. 15 in the world, putting her in line to earn an Olympic spot - and adding a third American player to the projected field of 60 women.
- After securing his European Tour card with a T-4 finish in Ireland, Matthew Southgate jumped 438 spots to No. 356 in the latest rankings.
- A large group finished T-4 in Dallas, including many players who made big moves in the OWGR: Robert Garrigus (No. 342) moved up 158 spots, Tim Wilkinson (No. 371) rose 170 spots while Bud Cauley (No. 355) jumped 233 spots.
